    Brief Description: Newspaper cutting from the letters page, written by Mrs Eileen Loram describing china plate painting by her grandmother Agnes Yates which depicted a snow house in the garden of Dewes House, Mere. In her subsequent book, ‘Putting the Clock Back’, 1939, Agnes Yates refers to one snow house which was built in January 1881 during a great snowstorm which could hold sixteen people inside.
